BMW rolls out 7-series ActiveHybrid in India at Rs 1.35crore

BMW has launched the 7 series ActiveHybrid model in India. India is already having the 730 Ld, 740 Li, 750 Li and the top end 760 Li and this hybrid version is a new addition to the luxurious 7 series line up .BMW has announced its plans to bring M4 coupe and M5 sedan to India  this year.

The 7-Series ActiveHybrid is powered by a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine. The engine produces a maximum power of 320 bhp and a maximum torque of 450 nm. The engine is twin-turbocharged works in integration with an electric motor which has a power of  55 bhp and torque of 210 nm. The power is transmitted to the The car engine is mated to an eight-speed gearbox for transmitting power.

Speaking on the launch Mr. Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW Group India said, “Hybrid vehicles are milestones in a time of change toward low-emission driving. It’s no coincidence that we call our hybrid models ‘BMW ActiveHybrid’. It’s because they supply the full dynamics of a BMW with outstanding efficiency. The all-new BMW ActiveHybrid 7 introduces a fundamentally new driving experience in the luxury segment that India has never seen before. It is the perfect choice to savour the agility and performance of a BMW 7 Series in a hybrid vehicle, without having to compromise in any way on comfort or spaciousness.”

The looks of the ActiveHybrid are similarito  the regular 7-Series. The new thing you will notice is the ‘Active Hybrid 7’ badging. The car has an aerodynamic design which helps to channel the air flow over the body efficiently and reduce drag force acting on the vehicle. The front of the car sports the trademark kidney grille, large air vents in the lower part of the bumper and adaptive LED headlamps with chrome accents. The luxury is enhanced with Long hood and short overhangs.

 BMW has claimed that the new ActiveHybrid model is 14 percent more fuel efficient than the standard model. When the car engine is turned off, the air-conditioning system is powered by a 120 volt lithium-ion battery pack which helps to save more fuel for your journey.  The car also includes the brake energy regeneration and a hybrid start stop system to save fuel.

BMW  7-series ActiveHybrid in India has been priced  at INR 1.35 Crore (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). This model will be following the CBU (Complete Built Unit), and arrive as a direct import in the country. The luxurious car races 0-100 kmph in just 5.7 seconds. It has a top speed of 250 kmph.
