Google launches Android apps for Chrome OS and new chromecasting video app

Google had announced the launch of the first set of Android apps for Chrome OS devices last week .The company had announced 4 apps –Evernote, Duolingo, Sightwords and Vine. Evernote, which is a the popular note taking app, you can use it from short lists to lengthy research, and access them on any device. You can Collect web articles, handwritten notes, and photos to keep all the details in one place.  Second one is Duolingo, which is a free language learning app. Duolingo is a foreign language learning app. It is the best app to begin your new language and practice. You will now be able to learn English from Greek, Korean, Indonesia, Chinese, Japanese, or Vietnamese etc.  Sight Words  is an app to help improve your child’s reading skills and lastly  Vine, this app can be used for creating short, looping videos.

Ken Mixter, Software Engineer and Josh Woodward, Product Manager at Google, had announced the release of the 4 Android apps via a blog post  and said, “Today, we’re making Chromebooks even more mobile by bringing the first set of Android apps to Chrome OS. These first apps are the result of a project called the App Runtime for Chrome (Beta), which we announced earlier this summer at Google I/O.”

The blog post also revealed that in the coming months Google will be working with select group of Android developers to bring many  apps to the Chromebook. “Over the coming months, we’ll be working with a select group of Android developers to add more of your favorite apps so you’ll have a more seamless experience across your Android phone and Chromebook,”

 Now the Google Chrome OS users will be able to cast movies directly from the Google Drive with the help of the updated Video Player app which is a part of a ‘Dev Update’. The  Dev Update of Chrome OS includes the updated Video Player app for Chromecasting movies directly from their Google Drive accounts. The update also  comes with an updated version of the File Manager. Now let’s learn how to use this new feature. The Chrome OS users will have to first open the Files app, then select the Drive section, play a video and they will be able to see the new Chromecast icon in the Video Player app . You can now cast it to a big screen by using a Chromecast dongle. If you are unable to see the new Chromecast icon then you have will have to first install or enable the Google Cast Extension and then follow the above mentioned procedure.
