Microsoft has launched the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL at the MWC in Barcelona.Microsoft is also offering subscription of 1TB of storage on OneDrive. Customers will get a one-year personal subscription to Office365 with both the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL. The free one year Office 365 subscription will enable full Office use on the Lumia handsets and can be also used on one tablet and one PC/Mac.
The Lumia 640 sports a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS LCD display guarded with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It sports an 8-megapixel rear camera , there is also a 0.9-megapixel front-facing shooter. The Lumia 640 is backed by 2500mAh battery. It is powered by 1.2 Ghz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. It features 1GB of RAM. It offers 8 GB of inbuilt storage which can be expandable upto 128 GB via micro SD card. The handset runs Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim update out-of-the box.
The Lumia 640 will be rolled out globally starting in the month of April and will be offered in 3G and LTE models. The Microsoft Lumia 640 is a single SIM device with LTE support and the Microsoft Lumia 640 Dual SIM is a dual-SIM with 3G support. It will be offered at a starting price of EUR 139 (Rs. 9,600 roughly) for the 3G version while the LTE model will be priced at EUR 159 (Rs. 11,000 roughly).
The Lumia 640 XL sports a large 5.7-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The device features a 13-megapixel rear camera with Zeiss optics and a 5-megapixel front camera with a wide-angle 24mm lens for clicking selfies. It is powered by 1.2 Ghz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. It features 1GB of RAM. It offers 8 GB of inbuilt storage which can be expandable upto 128 GB via micro SD card. The handset runs Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim update out-of-the box. The Lumia 640 XL also packs a large 3000mAh battery.
Microsoft Lumia 640 XL is expected to be offered in four variants, two will be single SIM variants and other two will be Dual SIM variants. Microsoft Lumia 640 XL single SIM 3G, Microsoft Lumia 640 XL LTE single SIM LTE , Microsoft Lumia 640 XL Dual SIM, a dual-SIM 3G and the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL LTE Dual SIM. It will be offered at a starting price of EUR 189 (Rs. 13,000 roughly) for 3G model and EUR 219 (Rs. 15,150 roughly) .
Both handsets feature Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GLONASS and FM radio. They will receive Windows 10 when it is rolled out. We see that both handsets have the same processor and feature 1 GB RAM so we expect similar performance in them. The difference in these smartphones is that Lumia 640 XL sports a larger display, has high clarity cameras and sports a bigger battery than he Lumia 640.
