Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge launched at MWC

Samsung has finally launched the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge at the MWC 2015 in Barcelona. The global rollout of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge will start from April 10.  These phones will be offered in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage variants.

Samsung dumps plastic, the handsets now feature a full glass and metal bodies Both Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge sport 5.1-inch Quad HD (1440×2560 pixels) Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 577ppi. The Galaxy S6 Edgefeatures Dual side display. Samsung says that the edge of Galaxy S6 Edge will light up with distict colors when notifications come from your favorite contacts. The screen comes guarded by Gorilla Glass 4.

Both Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge run Android 5.0 Lollipop. The new smartphones are powered by a 64 bit octa-core (quad-core 2.1GHz+ quad-core 1.5GHz) processor. They come loaded with 3GB of RAM (LPDDR4). The phones run the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop which gives a host of new features.

The Galaxy S6 brothers also feature fingerprint scanning with an enhanced touch-type fingerprint scanner on the home button, they come pre-installed with updated Samsung Knox. They are also loaded with Microsoft apps such as OneDrive offering 115GB for 2 years, and OneNote. They feature fast wireless charging built-in, with support for WPC and PMA standards. The fast-charging feature comes with the Exynos chip, which is claimed to give 30 percent charge in about 30 minutes.

 Talking about the cameras, these phones sport a 16-megapixel rear camera with OIS (optical image stabilisation) and LED flash , there is a 5-megapixel frontfacing shooter with 120 degree wide angle for making video calls. Both the handsets come loaded with features like low light video, high clear zoom, virtual shot, as quick launch, tracking AF, auto real-time HDR, f/1.9, IR detect white balance,  slow motion, fast motion, pro mode and selective focus.

Connectivity features of these smartphones include LTE Cat. 6,Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi Direct, micro USB, 3G and GPS. The Galaxy S6 is backed by a 2550mAh battery while the Galaxy S6 Edge features a little more powerful 2600mAh battery. The company also revealed the new mobile payment service called Samsung Pay. The new Galaxy smartphones will be available in White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Blue Topaz (Galaxy S6) and Green Emerald (Galaxy S6 edge only) color variants Samsung Netherlands has started accepting pre-orders for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.

Comparing the new Samsung Galaxy S6 with Galaxy S5 we see that there is improvement in the design with metal and glass body. Speaking on performance there is a 1.9 Ghz better processor coupled with 3 GB RAM. The Galaxy S5 featured 1.5 Ghz processor and 2 GB RAM. There has been some upgrades in the camera department of  Galaxy S6 with 5MP Ultra pixel front  camera from the 2.1 MP in GalaxyS5. The Galaxy S6 is loaded with the latest Android Lollipop OS too to give better esperience to the users. We see that S5 had a 2800mAh battery while, there is just a 2550mAh in the S6.
