Honda has launched its all time most expensive moped in India. You will be surprised to know that its price is more than the entry level car prices such as Alto, Kwid etc. The moped is named as Honda CT125 and is the most expensive one in the company’s 125cc two-wheelers line up. Honda launched this moped through online streaming channels and social media because of the ongoing worldwide epidemic Covid 19.
The Honda Moped CT125 runs on a 124cc, single-cylinder engine which can produce 8.8hp power at 7,000 rpm and can churn 11Nm torque at 4,500 rpm. It has a 4 speed gearbox. Design wise this moped is way different from other available mopeds. To make it run smoothly on bumpy roads, the company has added steel front fenders, high-mounted exhaust and air-intake duct to the moped. The company calls it “trekking bike” and says it has all features which makes it the best for off-road riding.
The Honda CT125 weighs about 120 kg which is 40kg more in weight than the popular moped TVS XL100 (TVS XL 100) in the country. It has a ground clearance of 165mm which though not much yet is bit low in terms of off-road biking.
For the time being, the Honda CT125 is only launched in Japan and it’s supposed to be launched in the other countries within a few months. But due to its high price, there is scarce chance of the moped getting launched in India.
Now coming to the price point, the Honda CT125 is priced at 4,40,000 Japanese Yen i.e. around 3 lakh rupees. If you wonder why price of the moped is so high, then it’s due to its capability to run on any kind of roads, specially its off road capability.
