Maruti Suzuki launches Swift Desire Facelift in India

Maruti Suzuki Swift has been one of those cars which sell like hot cakes throughout the year. India’s hottest hatchback has been on sale in its current avatar since 2011 and will soon get a facelift. Maruti Suzuki Swift got a host of cosmetic updates in Europe and Japan last year and will make its way to India by the end of this year. The facelift version will serve its duty till the next generation of the swift is launched. The hatchback is set for a launch soon, most probably will be launched sometimes in October-November to cash in on the festival spending spree in India. Suzuki has stuck with the formula of continuity and has not changed anything in terms of overall design.

Exterior

In terms of external design Maruti Suzuki swift remains the same as before but now it gets in new l-shaped LEDs upfront and silver detailing on the lower front bumper. Suzuki is also offering a high mounted led stoplight. The Japanese automaker has also put out a new Boost Blue Metallic colour and for non-alloy wheel versions, the wheel covers are different. But for the Indian market it has been expected that this will only be offered with the Vivid and Six and Sid variant.

Interior

Maruti Suzuki facelift interior will now feature cruise control, keyless entry and a button start. In the top specific version of the car it already featured with climate control, flux leather seats and a music system and Bluetooth, AUX and iPod compatibility. But now we expect that they will continue even in the facelift model too. It has been expected that the India specific car may now get rear AC vents and electric seat adjustment to update the feature list and to keep it on par with the competitors.

Engine and Gearbox

Maruti Suzuki facelift is expected to come with the 1.2 litre petrol engine 1.3 litre multi jet diesel engine. The petrol engine will produce 85bhp/114 Nm and the diesel egine produce 74bhp/9 Nm. Both the engines are mated to five-speed manual. Maruti Suzuki is expected to offer the AMT for the swift making it a highly competitive offering in the segment. It has been expected that Maruti Suzuki may bring five-door swift sport in a limited production run when it will launch the regular car.

Price and competition

The face lifted Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 4.90 lakh to Rs 7.50 lakh. It competes with the Tata Indigo eCS, Hyundai Xcent, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid and the production version of the Ford Figo sedan in the B+ compact sedan segment.
