Mercedes-Benz has launched the GLE SUV at 58.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The model is being considered as a facelift model of the ML class. The SUV comes in two models both running on Diesel. The 2.1 litre powered variant is priced at 58.90 lakh whereas the 3.0 litre variant will cost you 69.90 lakh. Owners will get the option of choosing among the SIX shades being offered to them. The SUV will be pitched against BMW X5 and Volvo XC90 in the Indian market. The SUV promises not only on looks but also offers power, comfort and safety. This SUV is the first in the new GLE series.
EXTERIOR
On the front your eyes will grab a revamped grille and newly designed head-lamps. On the back, the SUV sports new LED tail-lamps and an exhaust system. We see these differences comparing to the ML class and considering this as the facelift.
INTERIOR
Let us see what you get within the doors. The steering wheel sports a metallic three-spoke design and you can see the Mercedes star on it.The Mercedes-Benz GLE features a larger media display (8 inch) partially incorporated into the instrument panel. The centre console gets the Comand controller with the touchpad. You can enjoy navigation, telephone, audio, video, Wi-Fi hotspot and internet connectivity just with your finger touch.
ENGINE
Wondering what lies under the hood? Well, the Mercedes SUV is being offered in two diesel variants i.e 2.1-litre and 3.0-litre V6. The 2.1-litre engine is a 4-cylinder, turbocharged one releasing a maximum power of 201bhp and a peak torque 500Nm. With this engine inside the body the SUV would race 0-100 in 8.6 seconds and manages a top speed of 212kmph. The other variant is a powerful one. The 3.0 V6 blasts a power of 254bhp and produces a peak torque of 620Nm.The SUv incorporating this power plant would race 0-100 in 7.1 seconds and has the speedometer mark at 225 kmph as its top speed.
