EPF (Employees’ Provident Fund) is the benefit contributed towards the saving of every salaried employee in India. PF ensures that every month a chunk of your salary gets deducted and alloted towards long term savings in your PF account. In most cases an equivalent amount is also contributed to your PF account by your employeer.
But when matter comes to logging into your PF account or check PF balance, the most important thing required is your UAN (Universal Account Number), a number alloted by the EPFO (Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation). This is the number which will lead you through all EPF operatons in future, no matter you change how many organizations. Once your share the UAN with the new Employer, your PF contributions will be added to he same UAN number.
Generally the UAN number is mentioned in the salary slip. But in some cases it might not be there. So at times if you are in urgent need of your UAN number and it’s not on the salary slip, then what you should do? We shall let you know how you will find your UAN. Have a look at the below given steps.
How to find out your UAN
- At first browse the EPFO Member Services Portal on your PC.
- At the right hand button corner you will find the option “Know your UAN status”. Click on it.
- Now you will have three options to get your UAN number. By entering your Member ID, Aadhaar, or PAN Number. Choose the one suitable for you.
- Now enter all details prompted next to and below the chosen option.
- Once the entire form is filled followed by *Captcha, click on “Get Authorization Pin”.
- In the new window, agree to the terms and conditions by clicking on I Agree.
- Now you will get an SMS containing the OTP from EPFO. Enter this OTP on the EPFO portal.
- Next click Validate OTP and get UAN.
Now EPFO will send you a message which will contain the UAN number. Use it for your required purpose.
