This WhatsApp feature will silent calls from unknown numbers

WhatsApp has launched a new feature which will now silence unknown calls. On Tuesday Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced this. Check details.

After frequent complaints from WhatsApp users about spam calls and calls from unknown numbers, the company has introduced a new feature that will automatically silence such calls. WhatsApp has rolled this feature after rising complaints from its biggest market with more than 500 million users.

On Tuesday, Mark Zuckerberg, the Co-Founder and CEO of Facebook announced this feature along with a new privacy checkup option. “You can now automatically silence incoming calls from unknown contacts on WhatsApp for even more privacy and control,” he said.

To activate this option, users have to go to Settings > Privacy > Calls and select the Silence unknown caller option in their chat app. The company said while unknown calls will be auto-silenced, but notifications will be shown in the app’s call list. This will help the users to check the number in case they want in future.

After activating this feature if you get any call from an unknown number then the phone will just show you the number along with the message “silenced unknown number.”

Apart from this, WhatsApp has added a new Privacy checkup feature that would appear in the Privacy section. It will help you opt through different privacy controls like Choose who can contact you,” “Control your personal info,” “Add more privacy to your chats,” and “Add more protection to your account.” Along with this the users can activate or deactivate Two Factor Authentication, decide if someone can add you to groups, set default timer for dissapearing messages and control who can view their profile pictures, using this feature.
