Update Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 to Android 4.4.2 KitKat OmniROM

Samsung’s production, the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 is a much talked about device. Designed to optimize the working conditions of people with better security and brilliant multitasking capability, this 10.1 inch tablet acts great for gaming as well. Here, we provide to you the detailed steps for updating your Galaxy Tab 2 to the all new 4.4.2 KitKat OmniROM. No doubt,the Galaxy Tabs are among the most efficient tabs of the world. Equipped with Chainfire,Xplodwild and Dees_troy, the XDA developers have done a brilliant job by developing this ROM.Chainfire is well known for the development of superSU while Xplodwild is quite a name for focal camera apps and the Dees_troy is a leading developer of TWRP.

Also, this tutorial is for the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 only. Do not try this on any other device.

Pre-requisites:

  • A Rooted Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100
  • A computer to download required files
  • USB cable
  • Installed USB drivers for Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 in the computer

Also,

  •       Enable the USB debugging option.
  •       Install some recovery tool like ClockworkMod recovery
  •       Keep your phone fully charged or at least maintain a minimum charge of 85% in it.

 Downloads:

You will need to download the following before starting with the updating process:

  • Android 4.4.2 KitKat OmniROM for Tab 2 (http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407592538)
  • Google Apps package (androidfilehost.com/?a=show&w=files&flid=10654)

 Procedure:

  • Connect your Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 with the computer using a USB cable.
  • Then, transfer the OmniROM zip file And Google Apps package to the SD card of the S3 GT-I9300 from the downloaded files in your computer.
  • Next, switch off your smart phone.
  • You can now disconnect your Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 device form the computer.
  • Now, boot it in the Recovery mode by pressing and holding down the Volume up, Home and power button simultaneously till the screen appears.
  • Next, choose the ‘wipe cache partition’ option from the main menu of the galaxy device.
  • Then choose ‘install zip from SD card’ and search for the OmniROM zip file and the Google Apps package from the SD card of your smart phone.
  • Install them on your S3 set.
  • Finally, return to the main menu of your Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 and choose the ‘Reboot Now’ option.

Wait for a few minutes till your Galaxy device restarts and thus you are done with updating the Galaxy device to 4.4.2 KitKat OmniROM.
