In March of this year, the Chinese technology giant said it would enter the automotive electronics industry. They gonna do an investment of up to 10 billion yuan which is approximately about 1.5 billion US dollars. The president has now officially announced the recruitment of 500 technicians to work in Xiaomi’s logistics department. He also posted in social media’s searching for five hundred skilled techs to produce its own proprietary self driving machinery for its smart cars.

Xiaomi Plans on hiring for auto department
In addition, the current CEO of Xiaomi Group Lei Jun will also serve as the CEO of this new smart electric vehicle company. On the 15th Annual Meeting of the China Entrepreneurs Forum, Lei Jun confirmed that Xiaomi does not plan to launch electric vehicles. It confirms it wont be in the next three to five years because it plans to focus on existing products. A few days ago, China Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd. used the factory of the Chinese smartphone manufacturer to produce its own electric cars. However, the two companies declined to comment on the matter.
