Micromax’s new Yu Yureka Cyanogen smartphone launched at Rs 8,999

Micromax has unveiled the new Yu Yureka Cyanogen OS-based smartphone.The Yu Yureka (AO5510) smartphone runs on a custom  Cyanogen OS 11.

Let us see what the Cyanogen OS has to offer to its users. Cyanogen says that the handset users will have to power to modify icons, fonts, boot screen animation, taps, and more via the Themes app. Users will also be able to edit and customise permissions of each app. The NextBit Baton Pass feature enables users to continue their work on another device. The AudioFX app delivers 24-bit high-res lossless audio . The users will also get Find & Wipe device, device encryption, Pin Scramble, Blacklist for spam callers, and a Protected Apps section.

 Micromax’s Yu Yureka smartphone features 5.5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS display with a pixel density of 267ppi and is guarded by the Gorilla Glass 3 protection . The Yu Yureka measures 154.8x78x8.8mm. The Cyanogen based handset is powered by a 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 SoC (MSM8939), coupled with Adreno 405 GPU. It features  2GB of RAM. The Yureka offers 16GB of inbuilt storage which can be expandable upto 32 GB via microSD card . The Yu Yureka sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with Sony Exmor CMOS sensor, f/2.2 aperture and flash. Users will get a 5-megapixel fixed-focus front camerafor clicking selfies and making video calls.

 Connectivity features of the smartphone include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB and a 3.5mm audio jack. The sensors included in the handset are accelerometer, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor and gyroscope. The smartphone features Cat. 4 4G LTE connectivity with up to 150Mbps download speeds and 50Mbps upload speeds, apart from Band 40 and Band 3 support. The smartphone offers dual-SIM support, having slots for Micro-SIM cards (4G+3G). The Micromax Yu Yureka is backed by a 2500mAh Li-Po battery which is rated to deliver talk time up to 8 hours and standby time up to 310 hours.

 The Cyanogen OS 11 build is based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, and an Android 5.0 Lollipop-based build is promised. Customers have to pay a price of Rs. 8,999 for getting this smartphone in their pockets. The registrations have begun via Amazon and the shipping will begin in the second week of January. The company is offering free replacement or repair  at the user’s doorstep and leather back cover worth Rs. 999 free for the new customers.
