WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging apps, has introduced a new feature on its iOS platform that allows users to extract text from images. This feature, which is currently available only on iPhones, is a part of WhatsApp’s efforts to enhance the user experience and make the platform more convenient for its users.

The ‘Text detection’ feature on iOS, help WhatsApp users to simply select an image that contains text, and the app will automatically extract the text from the image. This can be incredibly useful for users who receive images with important information, such as a business card or a document, and need to quickly extract the text from it.

According to WABetaInfo, this feature is being rolled out to all users after updating to the latest WhatsApp for iOS 23.5.77 version. Upon opening an image that has text, users will be presented with a new button that lets them copy the text from the image. It’s important to note that for privacy reasons, the feature isn’t compatible with view-once images.

Recently, WhatsApp introduced a sticker maker tool on iOS that enables users to transform images into stickers. Additionally, WhatsApp has been releasing the ‘voice status updates’ feature on iOS this week, allowing users to record a voice note and share it through Status, with a maximum recording time of 30 seconds. Users can also forward voice notes from their chats to status.
