Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M), a part of Mahindra Group has announced the launch of a new model of the SsangYong Rexton genre, the ‘RX6’ which comes with manual transmission and a legion of features at a price of Rs 19.96 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi)*. The new model RX6 will be an addition to the existing model range of Rexton which has received great response in India and has won several prestigious awards including the Premium SUV of the Year at the Bloomberg TV Autocar India Awards. The SsangYong Rexton by Mahindra is currently available in two models – RX5 and RX7. The RX5 is an entry level manual transmission model and the RX7 is the top end model with E-tronic automatic transmission.
The new Rexton RX6 uses a 2.7 litre RX270 XDi engine. It is a 5 cylinder common rail, turbo diesel engine which produces a power 162 bhp and torque of 340 Nm. The 5-speed manual gearbox also offers an intelligent and efficient 4X4 system – Torque on Demand (TOD) with a low ratio serious off -roading.
When it comes to the Technological features it stands out, may it be the electronic sunroof with tilt open function and sun blind or the navigation system. Apart from these, it has got a speed sensitive power steering. The steering wheel sensor signals the ABS system that the wheels on the inside of the curve should brake more than the outside ones which gives an ease to your hands while making that big ‘U’ turn. It has got memory function with 3 presets for driver seats and OVRMs. Automatic headlamps. rain sensing wipers and three row air conditioning. The 5-speed manual gearbox with smooth and short shifts gives a hassle free driving experience.
Though heavy, it still hits 100kmph in just 12.33 seconds, keeping aside the low economy it gives i.e 9.1 kmpl in city and 11.8 kmpl on open roads. This gives a high value for money deal. You get the real luxury while driving it on the road with Premium leather upholstered seats, leather covered steering and dual tone Black and Beige interiors. It has an 8-way electrically adjustable driver seat to get you into a comfortable driving zone. It has also got a stylish bumper, integrated fog lamps and turn signals.
The Safety aspect is taken care of by the smart Anti lock braking system(ABS) which makes you forget skidding and crashing. It also has dual front and side airbags, hill descent control which can be turned on/off and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with active rollover protection and anti-slip regulation.
The RX5 costs INR 18.87 lakhs and the RX7 INR 21.11 lakhs, the RX6 is priced between the two i.e. INR 19.96 lakhs (all prices ex-Showroom, New Delhi). The RX6 is available in satin white, opulent purple, moondust silver and volcano black colours. The RX6 is targeted at customers who desire smart features, luxury and at the same time want to enjoy raw SUV performance.
