The NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) has announced the revision of the fees for the FASTag Annual Pass from the current Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 3,075 for the Financial Year 2026–27. The increased fee will be applicable from April 1, 2026. The revised rate will be applicable for eligible non-commercial vehicles with a valid FASTag seeking to avail the Annual Pass facility at about 1,150 fee plazas on National Highways and National Expressways.

It is worth mentioning here that, the revision in the fee has been carried out in accordance with the provisions of the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008. With over 56 lakh users, the adoption of the FASTag Annual Pass has been growing among private vehicle owners.

NHAI has informed about the FASTag Annual Pass fees hike and said, “Attention National Highway Users! Effective 1st April 2026, the applicable fee for the #FASTagAnnualPass will be revised from ₹3,000 to ₹3,075 for FY 2026–27 in accordance with the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008.”

The X post further added, “The Annual Pass offers convenient travel for eligible non-commercial vehicles with a valid #FASTag across around 1,150 fee plazas on National Highways and Expressways, through a one-time payment valid for one year or 200 toll crossings. With over 56 lakh users, the FASTag Annual Pass continues to provide a seamless and cost-effective travel option on National Highways and Expressways.”

What Is The FASTag Annual Pass

FASTag has introduced two types of passes, that is the lifetime free toll pass for yearly and 15 years. These passes are available for Rs. 3,075 respectively from FASTag. Under this scheme, lakhs of passengers travelling on national highways (NH) will get direct benefit.

According to reports, the crowd at toll plazas will get reduced further following this new rule. The central government has already introduced the facility of annual or lifetime toll passes across toll gates in India.

According to this scheme of the Central government, passengers will get the facility of travelling through toll passes across India for just Rs 3,075 a month. The annual Fastag guarantees a maximum of 200 crossings for a one time charge of Rs. 3000 across all NHAI toll plazas across the country. Confusion Regarding FASTag Annual Pass Applicability

Recently there was a rumor doing the rounds that the pass will not be applicable for the six to seven seater vehicles that ply on the highways. This created a major uproar among taxi owners and drivers. Most people prefer bigger vehicles for highway travel, hence this news that the annual pass of Fastag will not be applicable created a major confusion.

The rumors further said that the pass will be applicable only to five seaters vehicles. The news report became highly viral, so much so that the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has issued yet another clarification in this regard saying, “FactCheck: NHAI would like to clarify that all non-commercial Car/Jeep/Van with active #FASTag, are eligible for the Annual Pass. Kindly refrain from spreading fake news.”

The NHAI via the X post has clarified that the news has been ‘fact checked’ and that it is completely false and that it will be applicable to all non-commercial Car, Jeep, Van with active Fastag. All the above are eligible for the Annual Pass.

The Convenience Of The FASTag Annual Pass

The Pass eliminates the need to frequently recharge FASTag through a one-time fee payment for one-year validity or 200 toll plaza crossings. The pass is applicable for all non-commercial vehicles with a valid FASTag. The annual pass gets activated within two hours on the existing FASTag linked to the vehicle after payment of the one-time fee through the Rajmarg Yatra App or the National Highways Authority of India website.
