All of us know that using Mac is quite different from that of Windows. Whilst most of the common day users find it comparatively more tough and complex to use a Mac, Windows fit well to their requirements. But what if you already have a Mac for your everyday usage and you are bothered about the different functionalities it does have. No issues, soon you will get familiar to that. But for that you need to get familiar with the different features and functionalities of the Mac.
As I told, a Mac is feature-wealthy and takes bit more time and care to set up a new functionality. Just imagine, you are the boss at an office and the Mac you have been provided by your company also need to be used by some of your colleagues who take care of your daily activities. Then it’s obvious that you can’t Provide them Administrator access to your Mac and allow them to use your personal documents and data. In such cases, you need to create a separate User account for them. But how to do that?? Very simple, we have a step-by-step guide for that.
But before you must know what are the varied User Accounts a Mac has and what are their usages. Let’s have a look on the brief of these accounts.
Administrator
The first one is the Administrator Account which is the master key to access your Mac. One Administrator account must be there in the Mac to assign user access to others. This account is responsible for all sorts of activities that can be made on the Mac. Using this account you can assign a new User Role, can change and manage User Settings, can install apps and can do many more things. One Mac can have multiple Administrator accounts.
Standard User
Standard User Accounts are somehow near to the Administrator account, but can not play all its roles. Using this account, you can change Settings in the Mac, can Install Apps, but can’t add other users or can change the User’s Settings. So if you think of providing the Second most powerful account access to your Colleague on your Mac, then this account is for them.
Parental Control
This is the Settings only meant for the Kids or users who are too new to Mac. These users can only play the roles in the Mac that is assigned by the Administrator. You can restrict Contacts, Managed Users, Website Accesses and even can set the time-limit for the User account.
Sharing Only
The Sharing Only account is only meant for sharing files remotely with Shared users. But using this account you can’t log into the Mac. This user Setting is helpful for you if you always share file with users who don’t need access to the PC. You can also share file with these users without creating an Account in the PC, instead you can share files using AirDrop, MailDrop etc.
Group
This account provides the same access privileges to multiple users. This Account is used specially for sharing office files with multiple users at a time. To make the files accessible to all, you need to make all of them the part of the “Office Group” and also you must make sure that you have permitted the office group to access date in the File Sharing section of the Mac’s Sharing preferences.
