Maruti Suzuki, the leading car manufacturer in India’s CNG segment, has announced the launch of the CNG version of its popular SUV, the Brezza. With this launch, Maruti has further expanded its CNG portfolio, which already includes models such as the Ertiga and WagonR. The new Brezza CNG will compete with upcoming CNG versions of the Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet. It will be the first sub-4-meter SUV in India to offer a CNG option.
What sets the Brezza CNG apart is that it will be available across all trims, unlike other CNG models. Which are typically offered only in the base or mid-spec variants. This move is aimed at providing customers with a wider range of options, without compromising on performance. The Brezza CNG will use the K15C Smart Hybrid 1.5-litre petrol motor. It generates 100 PS of max power and 136 Nm of peak torque when running on petrol. In CNG mode, this motor delivers 87.8 PS power and 121.5 Nm torque, with a mileage claim of 25.51 km/kg.
The Brezza CNG will come equipped with a range of features, including an ARKAMYS premium sound system with Surround Sense. The car also includes 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system, OTA updates, electric sunroof & cruise control. Type A and C USB charging at the rear, wireless charging at the front, and a cooled glove box is also added to the car. A range of connectivity features will be available via the Suzuki Connect platform.
Maruti Suzuki is confident that the Brezza CNG will be a game-changer for the company. And it will disrupt the compact SUV segment with its design and performance. The company has a strong track record in the CNG segment, with S-CNG models accounting for 24% of overall sales in its Arena range Hot-selling models like the Ertiga and WagonR have CNG sales that are up to 57% and 41% of all model sales, respectively. The government initiatives in India aimed at increasing the number of CNG pumps around the country. They are projected to sharply increase these figures in the upcoming years.
