Nissan to compete Hyundai with its Electric car Leaf

For the last couple of days India’s second largest car manufacturer Hyundai is creating huge hullabaloo across the country for launching its forthcoming electric car KONA. The company claims that this car will be one of its kind as it will be an SUV and will run as long as 350 kilometers in single charging. Undoubtedly Hyundai has a huge fan base and its forthcoming car will be eagerly awaited by fans.

But for the electric car lovers, another good news is on thread. Yes, the Japanese Automobile company Nissan is geared up to compete Hyundai with its new electric car LEAF. Nissan had declared to launch this car during the launch event of its high end SUV KICKS. Specialty of this car will be running 400 kilometers in just a single recharge.

If told about the outer surface of the car, it measures 4480 mm in length, 1790 mm in width, 1540 mm in height and supports a wheelbase of 2700 mm. The Nissan Leaf is powered by the EM57 electric motor which can churn out 150 kilowatt (PS) power and 320 NM turk. Apart, the car packs a 40 kWh lithium battery which can be charged up to 80 percent in just 40 minutes with a 6 kW charger and takes approx 16 hrs for full charging in normal charge.

Nissan claims that its electric car leaf can run up to 400 kilometers in a single charge which is 50 kms more than the Hyundai KONA. But it will be interesting to see how much will be the range in the Indian market! The Nissan Leaf will be sold in the Indian market via Complete Built-up Root after which its price will be around 35 lakh in the Indian market. In price point it will cost Rs. 10 lakh more than the Nissan Kona.

Like the Hyundai KONA, the Nissan Leaf also was showcased in the 2019 Bangkok International Motor show. The car is sold with 1 lakh kilometer or 3 years (whichever is earlier) warranty in Thailand. The car costs around 1,990,000 (Rs.43.26 lakh) in India. The car was also showcased in India in the year 2018 in Move global summit.

As convey the reports, the Nissan Leaf will be launched in India this year. But before that the company will work on all required facilities that is necessary for selling the car in the Indian market. Interestingly, 4 lakh units of the car is already sold across the globe.
