Volkswagen India today launched the new facelift model of Jetta and has priced the car at Rs. 13.87 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The new Volkswagen Jetta is all set to be pitched against Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla and Hyundai Elantra. Volkswagen says that the next generation of the Jetta will arrive in India next year.
Speaking on the exterior, the Volkswagen Jetta facelift (top end highline model) sports a new larger front grille with three chrome stats, Xenon head-lamps, dynamic cornering system, newly designed bumper and fog-lamps. There are few changes at the rear too, the car now sports new the tail-lamps and the boot lid. Only the top-end diesel variant features DRLS while, the other variants lack them. On the interior, there is a new flat-bottomed steering wheel the dual-tone interiors work on adding a premium look.
Talking about the Engine, the new Jetta is powered by the same old engines as in previous models. The petrol variant is powered by a 1.4-litre TSI that delivers 122PS of power and 200nm of torque. It is coupled with 6 speed manual transmission while, the diesel variant is equipped with 2.0-litre TDI engine that churns out 140PS power and 320Nm torque. It is coupled with either 6-speed manual and the 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission.
New Volkswagen Jetta offers Cruise control on all its variants and also has 12-way adjustable seats. For safety, the new jetta has a lot to offer with 6 airbags, including side- and curtain-airbags in all variants. The car also features Anti lock braking( ABS) for safe braking and there is a Fatigue detection system too.
Talking about the price, the Petrol variants Jetta Trendline is priced at Rs. 13.87 lakh, the Jetta Comfortline is priced Rs. 15.35 lakh. While, the Diesel Variants Jetta Trendline will be offered at Rs. 15.01 lakh, Jetta Comfortline is priced Rs. 16.89 lakh, Jetta Highline MT is priced at Rs. 18.76 lakh and the top end Jetta Highline DSG will be offered at Rs. 19.77 lakh
The all-new eight-generation Passat will be launched in India soon. The new Passat gets a new-design daylight running LEDs and three-slat grille. The new Passat in India will feature new or upgraded four-cylinder direct injection petrol and common rail diesel engines. The engines will be coupled with a six-speed manual or seven speed dual clutch gearbox with automatic stop/start function. On the interior, the new Passat will sport new fully digital instrument cluster, an extendable head-up display and an app-based rear seat entertainment system.
