Volkswagen Polo GTI launched in UK starting at £18,850

The new Volkswagen Polo GTI has now been launched in UK.  The customer deliveries will start from March 2015.  The Price of the vehicle  starts from £18,850. The car was first unveiled at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in the month of October.

The new Polo GTI has exterior features like 17-inch ‘Parabolica’ alloy wheels, new bumpers, GTI insignia, honeycomb grille and red radiator grille strips. The Volkswagen Polo GTI has got sports suspension, GTI roof spoiler LED lights, taillight clusters in Dark Red colour and chrome dual exhaust pipes.

Talking about the interiors, the seats have the check design ‘Clark’ cloth with black bolsters, leather sports steering wheel with logo, red stitching on the steering wheel, black grained diffuser, gear and handbrake levers and floor mats with red beading.

 The Polo GTI comes with the XDS+ that compensates for the understeer. The Polo GTI comes also features the ESC Sport (electronic stability control) and this functions in two stages- first the traction control is switched off and the ESC Sport is activated which raises the ESC threshold and delays intervention without completely deactivating the ESC.

 A 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine powers the new Polo GTI. The car has a option of six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The engine generates 192 PS between 4,200 and 6,200 rpm in manual gearbox and between 5,400-6,200 rpm in DSG transmission. The manual gearbox of the Polo GTI delivers a maximum torque of 320 Nm between 1,450 and 4,200 rpm in manual transmission and produces 250 Nm between 1,250 and 5,300 rpm in the DSG transmission.

The Volkswagen Polo GTI is an efficient vehicle as it has combined fuel consumption value at 50.4 mpg and carbon dioxide emissions of 129 g/km for the DSG tansmission and for manual sysytem it has fuel consumption value at 47.1 mpg and carbon dioxide emissions 139 g/km. The Polo GTI boasts a top speed of 146 mph and races from 0 to 62 mph in 6.7 seconds. Customers can also equip their new Polo GTI with Sport Performance Pack that has an option Dynamic Chassis Control. Using the Sport Performance Pack gives sportier steering, enables accelerator response and engine noise inside the car.

Volkswagen unveiled Golf Sport Wagen HyMotion concept at the on-going Los Angeles Auto Show last month. The HyMotion is an electric car that uses hydrogen-oxygen reaction to generate electricity instead of storing it in batteries. A tank-full of hydrogen fuel is enough to cover about 500 kilometres. It has four tanks for storing the hydrogen fuel. HyMotion sports a lithium-ion battery pack that stores energy recovered through regenerative braking.
