San Francisco-based AI company, Josh.ai, has partnered with OpenAI’s ChatGPT to develop a voice-controlled home automation system. While traditional voice assistants, such as Alexa or Siri, respond to specific questions, Josh.ai aims to create an AI language model that can handle nebulous comments such as “What’s a healthy dinner recipe for a picky eater?” By integrating ChatGPT, Josh.ai believes that they can create a voice assistant that can deliver an AI experience beyond what any smart home is currently capable of.
Co-founder of Josh.ai, Alex Capecelatro, highlighted some of the features of the ChatGPT-enabled voice assistant. For example, homeowners can ask for a bedtime story, and Josh.ai + ChatGPT can provide stories based on the location of the home and other factors unique to the family. When it is getting dark, users can instruct the voice assistant to prepare the kitchen for the kids’ arrival.
