Google lauches Android One smartphones in India

Google has launched the all new Android One phones in India. KitKat. Google says that Android One will offer the new “material design, improved battery life, enhanced security features, and smarter notifications.” India is  the first country to receive Android One. Google will be bringing Android One devices to other countries, including Indonesia, the Philippines and Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka by the end of the year. Android One is a Google programme where it is partnering with phone companies to create high-quality but low-cost Android smartphone. The Android One is completely designed by Google.

Google has  announced the first Android One smartphones – the Karbonn Sparkle V, Micromax Canvas A1, and Spice Dream Uno. These phones are available at e- commerce websites. The Spice Dream Uno is priced at Rs 6299, is available in Black and White colour variants exclusively via  Flipkart. The Micromax Canvas A1 is priced at Rs 6,499, is available in Black and White colour variants exclusively via Amazon. The Karbonn Sparkle V is priced at Rs 6,399 , is available in Magnum Blue, Mild Grey, Wild Red and Pearl White colour variants exclusively via Snapdeal .

 All the three smartphones have same hardware specifications. These phones have got  features which are targeted at Indian market like, a FM radio tuner, dual SIM card slots and a microSD card slot for additional storage. There will be preloaded Google apps such as Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube, Google Search, and Google Translate in these smartphones. The phones run android kitkat 4.4.4 and will be the first to receive android one.

All the three- Karbon Sparkle V, Micromax Canvas A1 and Spice Dream Uno are are powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, have 1GB of RAM, 4GB of inbuilt storage which is  expandable upto 32 GB via microSD card . The android one phones feature a  4.5-inch (480×854 pixels) IPS FWVGA display They sport a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a  2-megapixel front camera. These phones have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G as their common connectivity features . The smartphones pack a 1700mAh battery.

Airtel is offering a promotion to reduce data costs for those who buy Android One phones. If you use an Airtel SIM card then the Android One users will get free over-the-air (OTA) updates and 200MB per month for downloading apps from Google Play for the first six months . Google has also announced that very soon the YouTube app will get offline video playback in India. This will enable users to store videos on their smartphones and watch them later without internet connectivity. The android one customers will also get one year free subscription to content on Google Play Newsstand.
