How to flash Android 5.1.1 Lollipop G388FXXU1BQA2 on Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3

The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 is being upgraded to the official Android 5.1.1 Lollipop G388FXXU1BQA2 firmware. The update is rolled in Slovakia for the ORX users and is available for update via OTA. In case you have missed the OTA, willing not to wait for it or want a prompt update procedure, then the below given manual update procedure will be absolutely right for you. Let’s take a look.

Caution

Remember that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware is offered by Samsung. So do not confuse it with beta custom ROMs, rather be known that it’s an official update in a manual way. We will pay no attention to your damaged Smartphone if found any during the update. We are only here to help you recover from the damage if you face any during update. The most important thing is that the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 must not be rooted. Else, the update might or might not work on your device properly.

Requirements
  1. Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3
  2. One Computer (Windows XP or Windows 7)
  3. One Original USB Cable
  4. Enable the USB Debugging option at Settings>Application>Development and tick the USB Debugging box. Forget not to untick the box when the update is finished.
  5. Backup all personal data such as SMS, MMS, videos, music, apps, contacts, messages, apps etc available in the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 using a backup app to avoid data loss.
  6. Power up the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 if your battery is low and hence it must be 60% or more to avoid automatic shutdown.

  1. First make sure the Samsung Galaxy Xcover is not rooted and then create a backup. If it is rooted then you may or may not get the exact result. It’s totally unexpected.
  2. Then download the Lollipop Firmware and download Odin. Do not rename it.
  3. After extract both the downloaded files to your PC and place them on the desktop for easy finding during update.
  4.  Switch off the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 and put it into download mode.
  5. Now double click on Odin to launch it and then connect it with your handset via USB.
  6. After select “PDA” and choose the “.tar file” that was downloaded & extracted in the beginning. Click on the Start button.
  7. The update procedure will start now and will take some time to finish. The phone will be switched off and will reboot automatically.
