iOS 8.3 Jailbreak Now Available

If you want to hack your iDevice and bend it to your wishes then … Well it seems you are bit out-of-luck if you try that out of the box. But just like Rooting your Android, you can jailbreak iOS. If you are running iOS 8.3 then here’s good news – the Taig team has released an iOS 8.3 jailbreak to the public. This new untethered iOS 8.3 jailbreak tweak will jailbreak any iOS device running iOS 8.1.3 to 8.3.

If you are not aware of jailbreaking, here is a small introduction. Jailbreaking is the method of removing hardware restrictions on iOS, Apple’s operating system for handhelds, on devices running it by the use of software and hardware exploits; such devices include the iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and Apple TV Gen 2. Jailbreaking gives you root access to the iOS file system and manager, allowing the download of additional applications, extensions, and themes that are unavailable through the official Apple App Store.

Currently, TaiG 2.0 only supports Windows machines. Mac aficionados, you need access to a Windows machine, else you’ll have to wait a while for a Mac version to come. You can also use a virtual machine tool ( the free VirtualBox does a nice job) and put Windows in it (Grab Windows 10 while its still free), but USB sharing is bit complicated and that demands an another article.

This jailbreak isn’t a completely finished one yet and you might run into problems with Cydia as at the time of writing this article, Cydia Substrate has not been updated for iOS 8.3.

A word of warning, Jailbreaking ain’t for the faint-hearted. You risk bricking your phone at every step. BlogZamana disclaims any liability whatsoever. Better know what you are doing.

Here’s how you do it

First back-up your device as a precautionary measure. You can easily restore later on if something goes awry. Turn off “Find my iPhone” and connect your iPhone to your computer. We recommend using iTunes 12.1 and not the latest version as there have been reports of problems with the latest version of iTunes.

  • Download TaiG 2.0 and extract it to a new folder.
  • Right click on TaiG 2.0 and select Run as Administrator.
  • The tool should detect your iOS device.
  • Click on the “Start” button to start the process.
  • When the process is complete, you should see the Cydia icon on your Homescreen.

This is it. Enjoy the iOS 8.3 jailbreak!
