Wearing masks this date is considered to be the one and only scientifically proven method to keep yourself away from COVID 19. While both the State and Central Government have made it mandatory to wear mask at public places, the question, “If wearing masks while driving cars alone is mandatory” must be arising the minds of many of us. Even many people seen wearing marks though they drive alone out of fear. But now the Union Health Ministry has a answer to this question.
The Union Health Ministry on Thursday clarified that they have not issued any directive under which people driving cars alone are required to wear face masks. Addressing the media on a press briefing related to COVID-19 in India, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that wearing masks while cycling and jogging in groups is obvious. Butthe Health Ministry has not issued any guidelines that it’s mandatory to wear face masks if someone is driving alone.
According to Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, 62 percent of the active COVU-19 cases in the country at this moment is confined to five states i.e. Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh & Maharashtra. Maharashtra among all states has the highest rate of 25% active cases. Besides, Maharashtra accounts for 37% of the total COVID deaths in India.
So it’s evident from the above statement that wearing face masks while driving cars alone is not mandatory, but can be worn if you feel insecure of COVID 19.
