OnePlus’ growing journey and popularity has ensured that the Smartphone maker is a long distance runner and will prove heavy against the leading Smartphone brands like Samsung, iPhone, Motorola etc. Whilst the last released handsets OnePlus 3 & 3T duo occupied their position among largest selling Smartphones in both the Indian and global market the previous year, now OnePlus is ready to dominate the market with its upcoming monster gadget, the OnePlus 5.
Before there was rumor that OnePlus decided to name this handset OnePlus 5 instead of OnePlus 4 because in China 4 is said to be an unlucky number. But the real reason behind such decision has been clarified by the company. The company claims that the name factor was actually inspired by number 5 jersey of former NBA player Robert Horry, who has a huge fan following of OnePlus users. With this the company also confirmed that the Smartphone is ready to move into the market this Summer.
Now what must be searching everyone’s eye is the difference between the OnePlus 3, 3T and the OnePlus 5. Of course we have all that rumored data. But internal sources claim it to be true. According to sources, the OnePlus 5 is supposed to pack a 5.5-inch quad-HD display with 1440×2560 pixels resolution and will run on the powerful and latest Snapdragon 835 SoC processor from Qualcomm. The device is said to be made available in two variants, one with 6GB RAM and 128GB built-in storage and the other with 8GB RAM with 256GB storage space. But it’s yet to be confirmed by the company.
Now moving to the camera, while rumors in the past had claimed that the OnePlus 5 was supposed to pack a 23MP primary camera, the recent rumors confirm that it will pack a pair of two 12MP sensors with standard RGB + monochrome features. But the front camera will be of 8MP. In addition, the OnePlus 5 will have a dual-edge curved display, slimmer bezels in comparison to its predecessors and hardware navigation keys. However, it’s still in doubt if the fingerprint sensor will remain in front or back as reports from Kumamoto’s Weibo convey that it will be in front. The Smartphone is said to be priced at $449 in the United States which will be approx Rs.28,800 in India.
