Suzuki launches all new Alto Kei with a mileage of 37kmpl

Suzuki has rolled out the all-new eighth-generation superb mileage Alto kei car in Japan. The new vehicle is priced starting from 847,800 yen ($7,060) for the base model.

The all new Alto is powered by a 660 cc three-cylinder engine. The engine is being offered in naturally aspirated and turbocharged configurations. The engine is coupled to either CVT automatic or a 5 speed manual transmission system. It is offered in both 2WD and 4WD versions.

Speaking on the exteriors, the frontal receives a completely Flat look and gets trapezoidal head lamps. Side profile shows mismatching wing mirrors with turn indicators integrated, and small complex rear door with triangular rear quarter window glass. We also see that the Registration plate is provided a little off-set to the left of air-dam and the grille section is miniscule.  The super mileage hatchback sports sporty dark multi-spoke alloy wheels and the rear features simple hatch door and bumper mounted tail lights.

On the interiors, we have a dashboard with dual colour theme. The car possesses instrument console with analogue dial and a Multi-Information LCD Display. It has centre console mounted gear rod. Steering wheel is modern and there are chrome rings on side AC openings. The car is features four power windows and electrically adjustable ORVMs.

The all new Suzuki Alto gets a spacious interior, having the longest cabin length (2,040mm) in its class. It has a longer wheelbase (2,460mm) compared to its predecessor. For safety, Suzuki arrives with new technologies such as the Hill Hold Control, unintended start control system, emergency stop signal and Radar Brake Support collision-mitigation braking system. The new Alto is up to 60 kg (132 lbs) lighter and according to Suzuki it offers the lowest fuel consumption among non-hybrid gasoline vehicles in Japan. The base model 2WD Alto with five-speed manual transmission weighs just 610 kg. The new Alto is very efficient as it gives a mileage of 37.0km/l according to the JC08 cycle.

Suzuki is now ready to unveil the Suzuki RS Turbo at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January next year. The RS Turbo is a turbocharged version of the standard Alto Kei car. A 660cc petrol turbocharged engine powers the vehicle. The engine will be mated to a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT gearbox. The Suzuki Alto RS Turbo features red bumpers, red mirror caps, red 17-inch alloy wheels along with side decals and a racing stripe.
