Media Tek has launched the all new chipset- the MT6753. The new SoC sports an 1.7 Ghz octa-core Cortex-A53 processor and Mali-T760 GPU. It also features CDMA 2000 1x and EVDO Rev.A. MediaTek Inc. is a fabless semiconductor company that provides system-on-chip solutions for wireless communications, HDTV, DVD and Blu-ray. Mediatek is Headquartered in Hsinchu, Taiwan and has 25 offices worldwide. It was the 4th largest IC designer worldwide in the year 2013. MediaTek also provides its customers with reference designs. MediaTek is the first system-on-chip (SoC) supplier to announce the development of an octa-core mobile device SoC capable of processing tasks with eight CPU cores concurrently. MediaTek primarily competes with companies like Qualcomm, Spreadtrum, HiSilicon and Marvell .
The new chipsets offers support for LTE Cat.4 and covers more many LTE bands like never before. The chipset offers support for 1080p displays and can run 16MP cameras with capability of 1080p@30fps video recording.
MediaTek had annouced the MT6795 in the month of august. It has an octa-core Cortex-A53 processor clocked at 2.2GHz and PowerVR G6200 GPU. The latest chipsets launched by the copany include the MT6732 (quad-core 1.5GHz Cortex-A53, Mali-T760MP2), MT6735 (octa-core 1.7GHz Cortex-A53, Mali-T760MP2) and MT6735 (quad-core 1.5GHz Cortex-A53, Mali-T720).
LG has launched the Nuclun, which is the the first mobile application processor (AP) from LG that sports an octa-core processor (with four Cortex-A15 cores, and four Cortex-A7 cores) apart from ARM’s big.LITTLE core management technology. The nuclun also supports LTE-A Cat.6 network which provides a maximum download speed of up to 225Mbps and also works with the current available LTE networks .
The Lenevo RocStar was launched recently with a 1.3 Ghz dual-core MediaTek (MT6572) processor . The handset sports a 4-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) display. The smartphone is loaded with 512MB of RAM. It offers 4GB of built-in storage, which can be further expanded upto 32 GB via microSD card (up to 32GB). The smartphone runs Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box and offers support for Dual Sim connectivity. Now talking about the music, the smartphone offers Dolby Digital Plus audio, and comes with superior quality earphones to give the users better audio experience. Users will be getting the preloaded Guvera music app that comes with unlimited streaming features and a library of more than 10 million songs. The connectivity features of the Lenevo rockstar includes GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, Wi-Fi connectivity 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Bluetooth 4.0 and 3.5mm audio port. MediaTek makes chipsets that are available at cheaper rates than other chipsets like from Qualcomm . Therefore, MediTek powered handsets are priced lower.
