Steps to Update Samsung Galaxy Wave GT-S8500 to Android 2.0 BBLB2 Firmware

The TMN Samsung Galaxy Wave GT-S8500 recently got update with the Android 2.0 BBLB2 firmware. If you are not lucky enough to get the update over the air then here is the Odin procedure to update your device. The users having problem in the current firmware should update it quickly. Through this article you’ll able to update the firmware easily by downloading few required files and will hit the update. Samsung Galaxy Wave has a 3.3 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The device supports number of connectivity options such as Wifi, Bluetooth,  EDGE, WLAN & GPRS.  It holds a 1 GHz Cortex-A8 processor with PowerVR SGX540 GPU. The device supports the default Bada OS and can now  got upgraded to the 2.0 Android Eclair update.

Caution: Note that the BBLB2 update is straight offered by Samsung for the Portugal based Galaxy Wave Smartphone users. Do not confuse it with beta custom ROMs rather get confirmed by yourself that its official update in manual way.   2. Computer (Windows XP or Windows 7)
  3. Original USB Cable
  4. Enable the USB Debugging by settings>application>development and tick the USB Debugging box and do not forget to untick the box when update is finished
  5. Backup all the personal data such as SMS, MMS, videos, music, apps, contacts, messages, apps etc present in phone using backup app to avoid data loss
  6. Power up the device if battery is low and hence it must be 70% or more to avoid automatic shut down

Procedure to Update Galaxy Wave to latest Eclair 2.0 Firmware

  1. First of all download the Android 2.0 BBLB2 firmware for your Samsung Galaxy Wave on your computer and so also Odin. Do not rename it.
  2. After that extract both the downloaded files in the computer and place them in desktop for easy finding while updating.
  3.  Switch off the device and press the VOL DOWN KEY+ OK BUTTON+ POWER BUTTON to land device on download mode. When a warning message appears press the VOL UP KEY to move further to next step. If you return back into normal mode then again try it.
  4. Now double click on Odin to launch it and then with the help of USB cable connect the device to computer. Soon the ID:COM box in odin will turn yellow indicating that the device is connected. If this doesn’t happen then you might not have enabled the USB Debugging (Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging) and KIES.
  5. Now select PDA and choose the tar file that was download and extracted by you in beginning. Make sure that the Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time check boxes are ticked in ODIN and the Re-Partition button is unchecked.
  6. Go ahead and click on Start. The update procedure will start and will take few minutes. The phone will off and reboot automatically. Then unplug the cable and go easy with the official updated.
