2022 Mahindra Scorpio: Details of the new generation Scorpio leaked, know what’s special in it
The new generation Scorpio is supposed to get launched in the second quarter of this month. Though price of the car is yet to be announced, but it will be somewhere around the lower trims of the XUV 700. But with the new Scorpio, the existing variant will also be on sell due to its heavy demand in small towns.
The new generation Mahindra Scorpio has been spotted several times during its testing on Indian roads. For the first time its the interior pics of the new generation Scorpio had come to limelight. Similarly, details on the other features of the car including sunroof was was announced during the testing in December last year. But lately, for the first time crystal clear pics of the interior of Mahindra Scorpio has been released. Now let’s take a look on it.
Mahindra Scorpio Interior
For the first time, the testing model of the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio was spotted at the Taboos of Himachal. Of course the car was covered in complete camouflage, but the interior could be clear seen. Dashboard of the new Mahindra Scorpio to many extent matches with the dashboard of Toyota Land Cruiser LC200. The dashboard includes a big infotainment touchscreen which has bigger AC vents in both the sides. The infotainment controller and HVAC system is placed just below the screen. The USB ports and Power Outlet socket is located below the Center console. A six-speed manual gearbox and traditional hand-break also could be seen in testing SUV.
Besides, the new Scorpio has Digital Instrument cluster and rear AC vents which will provide separate control to the blower. It’s possible, higher variants of the Scorpio might include digital cluster whereas the lower trims will get analogue dials. While steering of the upcoming SUV somehow looks like that of the XUV700, Mahindra is supposed to give many other controls including gear lever on it. The customers will get front facing third row seat in the new Scorpio while the existing Scorpio has side facing jump seats.
Connectivity Features
The new Scorpio will be smarter than the existing one. Reports convey that the new Scorpio might get dual zone climate control feature. This feature will be specially for the front seaters. Apart, there will be connected car technology in the new Scorpio using which the users can connect and track the location of their vehicle via their Smartphone.
Camera and Safety Features
The upcoming Scorpio might get a 9 inch infotainment system which will support Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Also the car will have a 360° parking camera which will help to park the car easily in little space. Talking about the safety features, the SUV will include 6-air bags, traction control, stability control, anti-lock braking system, ISOFIX child seat mount.
Like Mahindra Thar the new Scorpio might get the standard 4×4 feature. The Scorpio has many terrain modes through which the 4×4 feature can be used and torque also can be distributed. Besides, the setup of projector lamps with twin pod LED headlamps will be there in the new 2022 Scorpio. At the rear, there will be LEG tail lamps, which will get sequential turn indicators.
Sunroof
Apart from push engine start/stop, keyless entry, the new Mahindra Scorpio will also get electric sunroof. However, the 10 speaker sound system will not be there in the new Scorpio. It has already been revealed by Spy Shots that the new Scorpio will get roof mounted speakers.
Engine and Gearbox
The Next generation Mahindra Scorpio will get the option of a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine which can churn out power of 130 BHP and 300 NM torque. Similarly, the higher variants can generate power of 160 to 170BHP and a maximum torque of 360 Nm. The vehicle is assumed to be available in both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options.
Price and Launch Date
According to reports, the new Mahindra Scorpio might get launched in the second quarter of this year. The prices can be as much the lower trims of the XUV700. The company will not close the existing Scorpio and it will be on sale along with the new ones being it’s demand in the small cities and because of its security features.
