Google Rolls Out Android 4.4.2 KOT49H OTA Update for Nexus 7 2012

Nexus 7 2012

Just recently we had informed you that the Nexus 10 had received the Android KitKat Update and now it’s the time for the Google Nexus 7 that was released the previous year, to get updated with most recent Android 4.4.2 KOT49H OTA Update. In fact, the update has already been rolled out from the previous day and no the device is on a process of receiving the update. But what’s interesting with the update is that the tablet is directly receiving the Android 4.2.2 update devoid of getting the Android 4.1.1 update that was scheduled to get rolled earlier this week.

However, the update has already started and there is no question of thinking of the previous update. But what’s to feel great about it is that both the WiFi-only and AiFi+3G variant of the device is receiving this update and hence the users must make the best of it. Like other updates, this update also is also being despatched in stages and hence the users must have patience still they get the update peeping on their notification panel. But those who are impatient to wait further, they must follow the manual check method to update their device. To check it manually, just go to Settings => About Tablet => System Update => & Check the Update.

There also another way that you can follow to flash the firmware on your device. You can do it by downloading the OTA zip file and pushing it to your tablet by flashing it from the custom recovery mode or by using the adb sideload. But for that, you have to follow the rooting procedures. And what’s more important to mention here is that if your device has previously been rooted already, then you will lose the root access after going through this recent update. However, you can root your device again just by flashing the latest Super SU version. Before downloading the file, we do strongly recommend you to connect a WiFi network since the file is almost 50MB and you may waste much of your mobile data for the reason.

In the interim, there is no official declaration about the changelog that the update will bring to your device. But it has been clarified that Google has raised the issues and trying to find out solution to issues affecting the clearing and delivery of the VM indicator, along with all other major improvements and bug fixes. So what changes have been made with the update, only can be specified after updating the firmware. Is there any Nexus 7 2012 user, who has already update his device with the Android 4.4.2 KOT49H OTA Update?
