How to Speed Up Windows 7 PC: Step by Step Guide

Windows 7 works much faster than previous versions of Windows, but if you are not happy with its speed and want it to work much faster for you. This blog will help you to speed up your Windows7 PC. Windows 7 comes with many new features you can use some of them to get more from Windows 7, like ReadyBoost feature helps you to use your flash drive or pendrive or USB drive as Ram. You can also disable features like Thumbnail Preview, Aero Peek and Windows 7 Sidebar to make your Windows 7 work faster than usual.

Take the advantages of  Ready Boost feature:

  1. To configure Ready Boost open Computer , then right-click the on USB Drive/Pendrive,
  2. Select Ready Boost tab , then check the Use this device option

Make your booting more faster

  1. Open Run window.
  2. Enter msconfig and press enter.
  3. Click on StartUp tab
  4. Uncheck the program options which you don’t want to start at the booting

Change the Power Plan To Maximum Performance

  1. Open Control panel.
  2. Double click the Power Options.
  3. Click on Show Additional Plans option.
  4. Active High Performance plan.

Disable the Aero Peek feature
The Aero Peek feature in Windows 7 allows you to peep through all open windows by hiding all other windows and showing only the outlines of all windows.

  1. Right Click on the Taskbar, then choose Properties.
  2. Uncheck the Use Aero Peek to preview the desktop option.

Disable the Windows 7 Sidebar

By disabling the sidebar you can free up some system resources and increase the start up time.

  1. Right Click on the Taskbar, then choose Properties.
  2. Uncheck the Start sidebar when Windows Starts option

Disable the Search Indexing option

  1. Right Click the Computer Icon  and select Manage
  2. Select Services and Applications from the Computer Management window.
  3. Click on Services
  4. Right Click on Windows Search and choose Properties
  5. Click on Startup type in the Windows Search Properties Window and choose Disabled.

You can also disable the options like Aero Theme, Aero Snap, User account control (UAC) Thumbnail Preview etc. You can also set your computer not to use visual effects, screen saver, sound system and other unwanted options. Except that always use antivirus, registry cleaner to protect your computer and clean the registry. By following the above steps you can definitely speed up your Windows 7 computer.
