How to Update Samsung Galaxy J7 to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow J700MUBU2BPL1 Firmware

samsung galaxy j7The Samsung Galaxy J7 bearing the model number SM-J700M though was launched with the powerful stock Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS, still it’s getting upgraded to the newest version of Marshmallow. So undoubtedly this is a revamped firmware that aims at fixing the existing bugs and issues on your device along with adding few new features. And undoubtedly it’s so because many users must be waiting for the new firmware update which comes in form of a revamped Marshmallow OS and for them here goes the good news. The Firmware is being rolled in Panama, and Brazil (TIM).

So what the users have to do is to keep checking with the notification panel of their Samsung Galaxy J7 to ensure that the update has hit their device. If not hit yet, then they must not get harassed as they can follow the below given manual update procedure to start with the update right away. Caution: Note that this Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow firmware is straight offered by Samsung. Do not confuse it with custom ROMs, rather know that it’s an official update in a manual way. The most important thing is that the device must not be rooted.

  4. Enable the USB Debugging by settings>application>development and tick the USB Debugging box and do not forget to untick the box when the update is finished.
  5. Backup all the personal data such as SMS, MMS, videos, music, apps, contacts, messages, apps etc present in phone using backup app to avoid data loss.
  6. Power up the Smartphone if your battery is low & hence it must be 60% or more to avoid automatic shutdown.

Update Samsung Galaxy J7 to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

  1. First make sure that the device is not rooted and then make the backup. If it’s rooted then you may or may not get the exact result. It’s totally unexpected.
  2. Then download the Marshmallow Firmware for your Smartphone and after download Odin. Do not rename it.
  3. After extract both the downloaded files on your PC and place them on the desktop to find easily while updating.
  4.  Switch off the Samsung Galaxy J7 and press the VOL DOWN KEY+OK BUTTON+POWER BUTTON to land your Smartphone into download mode. When a warning message appears, press the VOL UP KEY to move to the next step.
  5. Now double click on Odin to launch it and then with the help of USB, connect the Samsung Galaxy J7 Smartphone to your PC. Soon as the ID:COM box in Odin turns yellow indicating that the device is connected. If this doesn’t happen then you must not have enabled the USB Debugging option. To do so, go to Settings>Applications> Development>USB debugging and KIES.
  6. Now select “PDA” and choose the .tar file that was downloaded & extracted by you in the beginning. Go ahead and click on the Start button.
  7. The update procedure will start now and will take few minutes. The phone will be off and reboot automatically. Then unplug the cable and go easy with the official updated process.

Congrats! Now the update is finished. You can check the new firmware from the About Phone section of your Phone in settings. Well done.
