How to Update Your Motorola Moto G with CyanogenMod 11 4.4.2 custom ROM

The team of CyanogenMod recently introduced the first ever custom ROM for Motorola Moto G. The custom ROM is based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS and since this is an unofficial ROM, so the users need to flash the TWRP and clockworkmod recovery first on their device before starting the update. However, it’s a stable ROM and all significant stuff is working fine after the installation.

Still if you face any problem after applying the zip files, then you need to root your device. But rooting your device will end with the cancellation of your warranty which you can retrieve only by applying the official ROM via Odin. Here we bring you the procedure and rooting credentials for your Moto G device.

  • Motorola Moto G handset

  • Backup of all your important files
  • Enabling the USB Debugging option from the developers section of your device
  • At least 50% battery backup before initiating the rooting process

Update of Moto G with CyanogenMod 11 4.4.2 custom ROM

  • First of all backup all the important files in your device.
  • Download all required files such as Google Apps pack, ClockWork Mod Recovery for 4.4 bootloader and TWRP 2.6.3.1 for 4.4 bootloader for your Smartphone device.
  • Then connect your device to your PC via USB cable and place all the files in the root of the SD card. Ensure that you have not placed the files in any folder since in recovery mode those wouldn’t be recognized.
  • Now you need to Flash the files. For that download ROM manager app from Play Store and put the device into recovery mode after tapping on it. Now click on the Install zip option from SD card and select all the files i.e. clockwork mod, then TWRP and then the Google Apps. Make sure all files are flashed one after another.
  • Now click on reboot system and wait still it automatically reboots to normal.
