The much awaited HTC One M9 has been launched officially at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona. The HTC One M9 will hit the markets globally starting mid-March. HTC has not revealed the price of this new smartphone.
Talking about the design and looks, this new smartphone will catch everyone’s eye. The HTC One M9 features an all-metal unibody design and will beoffered in dual tone Silver and Rose Gold, single-tone Gunmetal Grey, single tone Gold, and dual tone Gold and Pink colour variants. . The M9 measures 144.6×69.7×9.61mm and weighs 157 grams. The new HTC One M9 retains the 5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display. This smartphone features front-facing speakers and BoomSound and with Dolby Audio and 5.1 channel Dolby Surround sound simulation.
Speaking on the performance, the HTC One M9 is powered by the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core (quad-core 2GHz + quad-core 1.5GHz) processor . The smartphone is loaded with ultra fast 3GB of RAM. The One M9 comes with 32GB inbuilt storage further expandable upto 128GB via microSD card. The new HTC One M9 runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with the company’s new Sense 7 UI on top. The new HTC Sense 7 features updated BlinkFeed. With the built-in HTC Themes app, users can change the look and feel of your phone using your favorite photo or online image. The HTC Themes app can pick colors from the photo and apply the theme you create to your wallpaper or icons.
As expected, the camera features had to be great. The new M9 features 20-megapixel autofocus rear camera that comes with sapphire cover lens, BSI sensor, f/2.2 aperture, dual-LED flash. This camera supports 4K video recording. There is also features a 4-UltraPixel front-camera for making video calls and clicking self potraits. It comes with HTC’s Eye Experience software enhancements and Zoe app pre installed. HTC Eye Experience software enables users to take Voice Selfies, create Split Captures, apply Live Makeup and much more.
Connectivity features on the One M9 include GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, LTE i Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, GLONASS, GPS/ A-GPS and Micro-USB,. It features ambient light, proximity, accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, magnetic, and sensor hub. The HTC One M9 packs a 2840mAh battery which can deliver Up to 25.4 hours for 2G/ 21.7 hours for 3G. Thus, we see that the new flagship has many features similar to that of the M8 and has some upgrades too.
HTC has also announced its first virtual reality (VR) headset, the HTC Vive. HTC Vive combines Valve’s Steam VR ‘full room scale 360-degree solution’ with controller tracking for the wireless HTC VR Controllers. HTC Grip fitness tracker has also been launched . HTC Grip smartband is compatible with devices running Android 4.3 and higher, and iOS 7 and higher. The HTC Grip smartband runs HTC’s own RTOS operating system. It features a 1.8-inch 32×160 pixle PMOLED mono flexible display with capacitive touch input.
