Apps definitely play a great role in success of a smartphone today. But, the most fundamental part of a device is always its hardware. Before going to the topic, we want to inform you that ST-Ericsson revealed their latest 2.5GHz NovaThor L8580 processor earlier this year. However, the company has decided to go with a higher clocked edition of the chip, which is planned to be presented in the upcoming technology event, Mobile World Congress at Barcelona 2013.
The four Cortex A9 cores equipped in the chipset Nova Thor L8580 are also known as the eQuad are going to be clocked at 3GHZ. The fans will get its evidence at the upcoming MWC. ST-Ericsson has reportedly built the chipset with the 28nm FD-SOI manufacturing technology. Purpose behind this is less battery consumption.
Apart, the company has also utilized ModAp in it. ModAp enhances the performance of apps, as a result, the apps perform more 35% faster. The chip is capable of supporting dual cameras of up to 20MP and 5MP, HD Voice and LTE. For the graphics enhancement, it has been equipped with the Power VR SGX544 version clocked at 600 MHz.
But, the fact is that the 3GHz Nova Thor L8580 processor, is simply a prototype at present. On the other hand, when the MWC has already started knocking the door, the experts are ready to play with it. As everybody knows the real picture of any equipment’s performance is measured through benchmarking, hence we are eagerly wait for this to hit the floors.
Additionally, speculations have already been started with which device it is gonna be played with. Being a highly optimized chip it will definitely make any product’s hardware specs much enriched. Therefore, a high-end device (no matter of which company it is) is a must one for it. So, stay tuned to us for getting latest update and benchmark reports.
