Philips has rolled out a new smartphone, called the i966 Aurora, in China. The Philips i966 Aurora sports a 5.5-inch Quad HD (1440×2560 pixels) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and has a pixel density of 534ppi. The smartphone is single SIM supporting device. It is powered by 2.5 Ghz a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon (MSM8974AC) 801 processor. It comes loaded with a massive 3GB of RAM for superfast performance . It offers 32GB of inbuilt storage which can be expandable via microSD. Additionally, the i966 Aurora features a Sabre ES9018 DAC chip.
The Philips i966 Aurora is the first smartphone in the company’s line up that runs the new Android based Yun OS 3.0 operating system. The Philips i966 Aurora comes with top-end features such as a QHD display and a fingerprint scanner at the rear. We have seen this fingerprint scanner in Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One Max. It also features Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 technology. Qualcomm says that the Quick Charge 2.0 technology can charge devices up to 75 percent faster than others.
The Philips i966 Aurora features a huge 20.7-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX220 Exmor RS BSI sensor, f/1.8 aperture, and LED flash onboard. There is also an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The high quality front shooter will help users take impressive selfies and videos. Connectivity features of the smartphone include Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, 3G, 4G LTE and Bluetooth 4.0. The Philips i966 Aurora packs a 3000mAh battery.
The new Philips i966 Aurora has been priced at CNY 3699 (roughly Rs. 37,000) and is currently available for the customers in China .There is no official report about the worldwide release of the Philips i966 Aurora.
Philips has launched a new feature phone that’s been targeted at senior citizens ,called the Philips Xenium X2566. The phone is available in the market at Rs. 3,800 in India. As Xenium X2566 feature phone features a large font size and long battery life, the company claims that this phone is ideal for the senior citizens. The Xenium X2566 feature phone is powered by a 1630mAh Li-ion battery, which the company claims can offer up to 1128 hours standby time and up to 24 hours talk time. It also features a magnifier to enlarge the words on the screen along with a flashlight. The Xenium X2566 comes with large hardware keys, for ease of use. Users can also set three SOS numbers on the smartphone for making emergency calls. The handset sports a 2.4-inch TFT screen with (240×320 pixels) resolution The smartphone offers inbuilt storage of 16GB, which can be expanded via a microSD card. Connectivity options on the Xenium X2566 include Bluetooth v2.1, GPRS/ EDGE, and Mini-USB. The phone measures 124.5×64.9x16mm and weighs 108.8 grams. The X2566 sports a VGA (480×640 pixels) rear camera.
