Requirements

• One Galaxy S5 G900
• A computer to download necessary files
• An installed Samsung USB drive in the computer
• Most importantly, back up all important files that you don’t want to lose, just in case.
• Enable USB debugging by following the steps:Menu>settings>Applications. To ensure if USB debugging is enabled, navigate and tap on Developer options.
• Last but not the least, your phone battery is fully charged or carries at least 80% charge.

Downloads

To begin with, you will need to download the following.

• Odin3 v3.09 (http://uploaded.net/file/hwtdrpll)
•  Chainfire root tool for Samsung Galaxy S5 (http://download.chainfire.eu/402/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-k3g-k3gxx-smg900h.zip)

Procedure

• First of all, unzip the Odin software you downloaded in your computer and place it on the desktop.
• Next, unzip the Chainfire.zip file and from there retrieve the file named .tar.md5. This will be used for the rooting purpose.
• After that, run the installed Odin and click on the PDA button.
• Now choose the .tar.md5. file that you had retrieved earlier.
• Now, switch off your Galaxy S5 G900 and put it in download mode by pressing the volume down, power and home buttons simultaneously.
• After the desired mode is obtained, connect the phone with the computer and it will be automatically added or detected by Odin and it will report a message saying ‘Added’.
• If the Odin fails to detect your device, try through another port or re-install the USB drivers.
• After your device is detected by Odin, ensure that re-partition is disabled and then click on ‘start’ to commence the rooting action.
• This might take some time. After the rooting is done, a PASS message will be received.
• You can now disconnect your smartphone from the computer and reboot it to enter the KitKat world.

If your phone gets hanged at the boot screen during installation, then perform the data wiping action by turning off SGS 5 and then rebooting it to recovery mode. Then select the wipe data/factory reset and then finally, go back and reboot your phone.
