Samsung Unleashes its Latest Flagship Smartphone: Galaxy S4

The latest flagship smartphone of Samsung i.e. Samsung Galaxy S4 has finally been unveiled. The Korean giant held an official event in New York to announce the smartphone publicly. The Galaxy S4 will be distributed to 155 nations with the help of 327 operators. According to Samsung the Galaxy S4 is going to be available in two variants in accordance with the market condition of any province. At the outset, the smartphone will also be available in two color variants i.e. Black and White.

In addition to 3G and 4G LTE variants, Samsung said that there would be two more versions of the smartphone, one with Samsung 1.6 GHz Exynos 5 Octa-core processor and the other one with 1.9 GHz Qualcomm S4 Pro Quad-core processor. The smartphone boasts a huge 5 inch capacitive full HD Super AMOLED touchscreen with 1920×1080 pixels resolution (~441 pixels per inch pixel density). The screen is shielded by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3. As speculated earlier, it is running on latest Android version i.e. 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Like mentioned previously, the variants of the smartphone would come with two different processors i.e. Exynos 5 Octa-core processor clocking at 1.6 GHz and Qualcomm S4 Pro Quad-core processor clocking at 1.9 GHz together with PowerVR SGX 544MP3 GPU and Adreno 320 graphics, respectively. Anyway, both variants will have 2 GB of RAM for a faster and smoother experience with the smartphone.

It’s a Dual camera smartphone, sporting a 13 Megapixel primary camera with Flash at rear and a 2 Megapixel secondary camera at front. The rear one is capable of taking 100 shots in 4 secs. Other features of the cameras include BIS, Zero Sutter lag and HD video recording. They also come with a number of predefined frames allowing users to merge their photos with them giving their pictures elegant looks. There is another camera feature called ‘Sound & Shot’ enables users to record a 5 sec audio before taking a picture. The ‘Dual Camera’ camera mode allows users to take pictures using the both front as well as back cameras and afterward it joins together making a single click. In addition to ‘Dual Camera’ mode, there are a total of 12 shooting modes.

Another thing, the smartphone will be available in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB inbuilt-memory versions with further expansion capacity via microSD card (up to 64 GB). In addition to 3G ad 4G, the Galaxy S4 has other major connectivity options as you’d expect such as Bluetooth 4.0 with EDR & A2DP profiles, aGPS with GLONASS, DLNA, microUSB v2.0 with MHL, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, IR LED, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot etc. It weighs about 130 grams with a dimension of 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm. A battery of 2600 mAh capacity may possibly suffice.

Over and above, the smartphone includes lots of integrated programs in company with the latest and better TouchWiz user interface. There is a feature called ‘Smart Scroll’ that automatically scrolls down and up corresponding to your face’s movement. Samsung has also equipped the smartphone with ‘Smart Pause’ feature, which automatically suspends an ongoing movie if you move your face away from it and then again plays it back once you look it back. Just like ‘Siri’ voice command feature, here you get ‘S Voice Drive’ that lets you control your smartphone with your voice when you’re driving.

Also with a feature called ‘WatchOn’ you can use your smartphone as a universal remote for a number gadgets including Television, Set-top Box, Air Conditioner, DVD Player and the like. For music playback, you can use other smartphones as stereo speakers, which is possible by the new ‘Group Play’ feature. The smartphone also works as an advanced health tracer device as a result of ‘S Health’ feature. You must have heard of ‘mouse hover’ feature, the same feature is also present in Samsung Galaxy S4 with a different name ‘Air View’, instead of mouse pointer you can previews of image & videos in gallery, S Planners, emails and so on by just moving your fingers over them. And other features of the smartphone include Air Gesture, Drama Shot camera mode, Dual Video call, Group Play, Optical Reader, Samsung Adapt Display, Samsung Adapt Sound, Samsung Hub, Samsung KNOX, Share Music, Story Album camera mode and more.

However, Samsung hasn’t yet unveiled any details about its price and with all these hefty features and specifications, we don’t think it would be priced under Rs.30000/-. The smartphone would be supplied to US and Europe in cooperation with AT&T, T-Mobile, Orange, Vodafone, Verizon Wireless, US Cellular, Telia Sonera, Telefonica, Telenor, Sprint, H3G, EE, Deutsche Telecom and Cricket. And it would hit the Indian market in May.
