For visitors from abroad visiting India, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced a brand-new, hassle-free Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system. With the help of this new system, foreign travelers will find it simpler to make digital payments while visiting India.

Using a mobile platform, UPI, a real-time payment system, enables instant financial transfers between two bank accounts. The way people make payments has been completely transformed by this well-liked digital payment option in India. Tourists will be able to digitally pay for a variety of things. Like dining, shopping, and transportation with the new UPI system for international travelers without any hassle.

Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPI) wallets connected to UPI will be given to eligible passengers to purchase at merchant locations. The facility will be made first available to tourists from G-20 nations, according to the RBI statement.  According to a press release from the RBI, over five crore merchant outlets throughout India that accept QR Code-based UPI payments now offer the convenience of UPI payments to visitors.

This new UPI system for foreigners  is a key milestone in India’s promotion of digital payments. It also helps in facilitating foreign travelers’ access to the nation. The technology is anticipated to lessen India’s reliance on cash transactions and assist the country in achieving its aim of becoming a cashless society. By giving overseas tourists a more practical and secure payment alternative, it will also assist businesses and merchants in boosting their earnings.

The new UPI system for international travelers launched by the RBI is a game-changer for the Indian tourism industry. It provides a hassle-free and secure payment option to international tourists and helps India move towards a cashless economy. The system is expected to boost tourism revenue and enhance the overall experience of international travelers in India.
