WhatsApp to stop support for iOS version 7.1.2 and below from February 2020

WhatsApp will no longer support the iPhone 3GS, in other words iOS versions prior to 7.1.2. This has become evident as the company has not updated its end-of-support blog post since June 2018 when it announced that it will not be supporting the said versions from February 1, 2020.

But just of late WhatsApp published a new FAQ Section detailing the changes it will have for the latest version of iOS 7.1.2, the user limitations and the ways they can use the app. So now it’s clear that iOS 8 and above will the full functionality of the app.

Over the past 12 months, WhatsApp has launched a bunch of killer features which makes the platform even more essential for users. This includes voice and video calling, end to end encryption, and support for bold and italic text etc. But because WhatsApp is dropping support for iOS 7 and below versions, so iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 and 5S handsets which are yet to be updated to iOS 7 will also be exempted from the service.

List of the unsupported Mobile OS versions include Android 2.1 and 2.2, Blackberry OS, Window Phone 7 and iOS 7.1.2 and below versions. But one thing must be made clear here that if users of the said iOS handset have already downloaded and using WhatsApp on their handsets, then they can use it February 1, 2020. But after that the company will no more provide support to these handsets.
