How to Hard Reset, Root and Unroot Samsung Galaxy M42 5G

  • Download and install ODIN flash tool in your computer
  • Download latest magisk app

How to unlock the bootloader of Samsung Galaxy M42 5G

  1. First go to the settings-> about phone software information and tap on the build number 7 times
  2. Now open the setting again to enable OEM unlock and USB debugging in developer option
  3. Then switch off the device and connect to PC using USB cable
  4. Hold the Volume UP and Down until the warning screen appears.
  5. As soon press the volume up button and device get booted into download mode
  6. Once the device booted into download mode then long press the volume up button and the bootloader procedure get started
  7. Finally reboot the system

Create a patch boot image using Magisk Manager

You must have downloaded the firmware file from above

  1. Then extract the file using the WinRAR or 7zip app
  2. Now copy the AP file and transfer to your internal storage
  3. After the download and install the Magisk app
  4. When the app opens, tap on install-> select and patch of file and select the AP file that you have earlier transferred on your Samsung Galaxy M42 5G phone
  5. In the magic app start the process of patching the file and that will save as magisk_patched. tar file
  6. Once the boot image is patched, than copy the tar copy on the PC

Flash the Patched boot image using Odin Flash tool

  1. First download and install the latest ODIN and flash tool on your PC and extract it
  2. Then before connecting Galaxy M42 5G to PC, open developer mode, then enable USB debugging and OEM unlock option
  3. Then into download mode by pressing the volume up button and down button together
  4.  Then connect to the computer and open the ODIN tool and check whether the device is connected or not then tap on AP button and select the magisk_patched.tar file
  5.  Make sure the auto reboot is unchecked in the option
  6. Then tap on the start button in few minutes the process will start then you get a pass notification which everything is done
  7. Now disconnect the phone from the computer and press volume up button and power button at the same time to see the bootloader warning on screen

Check the device is rooted or not

  1. First of all download Root Checker App from Google Play Store.
  2. Then Open the App → Click Verify Root
  3. Now, here you will see the message “Congratulations! Root Access is properly installed on this device” if your device has been successfully rooted.

How to unlock a root Android device

If you don’t want to keep the routing then install the magisk app directly from the app follow the steps to do so

  1. First open the magisk manager app and you will see uninstall option at the bottom click on it
  2. Then a popup screen will launch their you select the complete uninstall option
  3. Now the magic Manager app will ask the permissions and grant the allow button
