Instagram, the other popular app from Facebook’s bouquet is said to receive the Voice and Video calling features soon. This has been confirmed from the Instagram Direct APK files. Of course, rumors began swirling earlier this year about these new features though nothing was confirmed from official sources. But a TechCrunch reader has brought this fact to the limelight after detecting the icons with filenames like “action_call” and “video_call” inside the APK.
Its assumed that Instagram is in the verge of testing the app before public release though the Instagram spokesperson stays mum on the rumor. Here we would like to let you know that in early January this year a WABetaInfo report claimed that Facebook is going to launch these two new features for the standalone app in the coming days.
It can be easily assumed that this major step by Facebook is taken to pressurize its close rival Snapchat who for several years is running the video calling feature now. But a major redesign of its UI has recently has made a considerable portion of the Snapchat user base upset, the which profit might Instagram after introducing these two new features.
