If you are an iOS user, I mean an iPhone or iPad user then you will be happy to know that now you can share both your location and directions with your friends, colleagues or anyone you want. The task is quite easy now as Google has just introduced a new app to the iOS store named Google Maps which will not only help you to share your present location with someone but will help you to share the directions to the place. So the app can be proved to be one of your assets if you are planning a get together somewhere, wanna share directions to certain destination on shared trips or wanna take someone through potential routes.
So now you will need to know how you will use this app to share location and directions. Right? Actually you can do this in three ways. One – Directly with Google Maps, Two – Sharing your location in Google Maps with a link, Third – Sharing directions in Google Maps. Now let’s go through each one of the ways separately.

Share Locations directly with Google Maps
To share your location and directions directly with Google Maps, you will need to take help of your contacts. I mean this is only possible for users who are in your Google Contacts List. Now follow the steps.
- Using your iPhone or iPad, open Google Maps and click the Menu icon located at top.
- Now tap “Share Location” and next “get Started.”
- Now you will have a couple of options. Either you can Tap the “+ or -” buttons to increase or decrease the amount of time your location is shared with others, or else you can log tap the option “Until you turn this off” to disable manual location sharing.
- Next choose “Select People” from Contacts to share location directly.
- To choose, tap icons of the people you wanna share your location and tap “Share.”
- Now tap “Turn On.”
That’s it, now you are done with the first process to share the location with your friends or colleagues. Now, let’s move to the second way.

Share Locations with a link in Google Maps
You can also share your location using a direct link via Messages to the person you want. But for that you have to follow the below mentioned steps.
- First of all open the Google Maps on your iPhone or iPad and click on the “Menu Button.” Next tap on “Share Location.”
- Now tap on “Get Started.”
- Now you will have a couple of options. Either you can Tap the “+ or -” buttons to increase or decrease the amount of time your location is shared with others, or else you can log tap the option “Until you turn this off” to disable manual location sharing.
- Next tap on “Messages” to share the link of your location in iMessage or tap on “More” to share the link using a third party App.
- Now choose the person you want to send the link in iMessage or the App and then tap the “Send Button.”
Great! Now the person you sent the link will get details of your location.
Share Direction using Google Maps
Using the steps given in this column, you can share directions with your friends or colleagues. Suppose you are out somewhere in different vehicles. Then the steps here will be much helpful.
- To start, first open “Google Maps” on your iPad or iPhone.
- Next tap the “Blue Direction Button” located at the lower-right side of the device screen.
- Enter the “Starting Point” and “Destination” of the direction you wanna share.
- Now look at the top-right corner of the screen and you will find the “Options Button.”
- Tap it and then tap on “Share Directions.”
- Use the Messages app to share the directions. Next choose the person with whom you wanna share the directions.
- Next tap on the “Send Button.”
